Concordia University Portland Oregon Adjunct Professor of Astronomy · August 2004 to December 2004 2003 ~ 2004 were very busy, dedicated and influential years in my life. Traveling for three trips to the Fiji Islands to rework my wife’s immigration, providing solar and nighttime astronomy for The Ministers of Education and schools for several months was a humbling and humiliating experience, while also providing it for the public and eventually the Prime Minister and his family, then returning home and landing my life long dream job to teach astronomy at a local university, as it was announced just days after my 50th birthday in late August 2004. The public across America and Canada and the Fijians, including my students at the University were grateful and gratified as they too taught me in return. Appearing in The Fijian Newspapers several times and learning the island cultures was fascinating. This was an exotic better half of a year spent in Fiji south of the equator, where many northern latitude astronomers can only dream of visiting to see the Southern Skies. I had already completed a 10,000 mile solo road trip in 2000 across the US-Canadian continent within a whirlwind short six week period of time. An excerpt of that trip is in audio interviews that I conducted with the public as I allowed them to observe the suns surface directly through a large h-alpha filtered research-grade telescope on many large inner city sidewalks and streets from Portland to the East Coast of Quebec Canada. *See this Youtube link > Listen carefully to each persons description in this short 15 minute sample from over one hundred hours of audio recordings > youtube/watch?v=jVtxx7kC_LI
