Cont: Heavenly body:- Our present body is fit to live on this earth. This body is not suitable for heaven. We have got a heavenly calling and our citizenship is in heaven; even our inheritance is reserved in heaven ( Heb 3:1; Phili 3:20; 1 Pet 1:4). Hence we need a heavenly body like that of angels to live there. ( Mathew 22:30). In Adam we got earthly body and in Christ we will get a heavenly body. ( 2 Cor 5:1). (10)- Identifiable body:- Are we able to distinguish and identify each other in the resurrected state? Some passages indicate that we may retain our individuality even after resurrection. God will give every one his own body ( 1 Cor 15:38). When Moses and Elijah appeared on the mount of transfiguration Peter and other disciples could identify them. ( Mathew 17: 3,4). So we will get a body that can be distingushed by others. ( 11)- Bloodless body:- Blood is the one of the most corruptiable tissues of our body. Blood is the life- giving element of the earthly body. But not of the heavenly body ( Lev17:11). Hence it is believed that resurrected body is a bloodless body. When Christ appeared to the disciples He talked , about His flesh and bones but there was no mention of His blood. ( Luke 24:39; 1 Cor 15: 39,40). This fact is further supported by His appearance to Thomas. When Christ appeared to the disciples , Thomas had a doubt and said, Except I shall see in his hands.....And put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side , I will not believe ( John 20 :25). After eight days , Jesus Christ again appeared to the disciples and asked Thomas to thrust his hand into His side. His side remained opened even after the resurrection. It is from His appear pierced side, blood and water came, indicating that His heart was pierced. Retaining the pierced heart after resurrection shows that there was no blood in His resurrected body. (12)- No need of food.( ?) :- We now need food for growth and energy. There is no need of growth and repair for the resurrected body. We are not told how resurrected body gets energy for various activities. The Lord appered after resurrection in many places; and he broke the bread and gave to them ( Luke 24:30; John 21: 10- 15). Luke clearly says he did eat. he showed them His hands and His feet. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled. he said to them Have you any food here? So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And he took it and ate in their presence ( Luke 24: 40-43). Wheather he did eat before them to remove their unbelief? We are not sure. However , one can eat food in the resurrected state. The children of Israel ate manna, in the wilderness, it is said that manna was the food of angels And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the grain of heaven.Man did eat angels. food, he sent them food to the full ( Psalm 78:24,25). Probably , resurrected ones may eat heavenly manna for energy as and when it is needed. Spiritually speaking our food in eternity is to do the perfect will of the Father and continue in His service ( John 4: 32-34). The very presence of our savior will energise us. He is the bread of life....that came down from heaven ( John 6: 48,51) For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness , and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit ( Rom 14:17). Only eternity will reveal fully and clearly the details about the resurrected body. Our Lord assured and comforted Martha I am the resurrection and the life( John 11:25).The same assurance is true to those who believe in the Lrd Jesus Christ. For those who are dead, He is the resurrection but to those who are alive at the time of His Second Coming He is the life . You were raised with Christ , seek those things which are above , where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on this above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden, with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears , then you also will appear with Him in glory. ( Colossians 3: 1-4).
