Contact: Michael Ninburg [email protected] National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) Names Next Executive Director The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable’s Steering Committee is pleased to announce that it has selected Ryan Clary as the organization’s next Executive Director, effective March 1, 2014. Clary currently serves as Director of Public Policy for NVHR, where he has developed and coordinated its federal viral hepatitis policy agenda since 2012. He has more than twenty years of public health non-profit experience, including senior leadership roles at Project Inform, a national HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C advocacy organization based in San Francisco, CA. Clary will replace Martha Saly, who is leaving her position after several years of NVHR leadership. “On behalf of the NVHR Steering Committee, I am delighted to promote Ryan Clary to the position of Executive Director,” said Steering Committee Chair, Michael Ninburg. “His wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership in his current position are a perfect fit for this critical juncture in NVHR’s growth.” As Executive Director, Clary will oversee a coalition with more than 200 member organizations nationwide that are engaged in hepatitis advocacy, policy, care and treatment. “I am very excited to lead NVHR into its next chapter in the fight against the hepatitis B and hepatitis C epidemics,” said Clary. “I’m committed to working with our talented and dedicated staff, steering committee and members to ensure that our nation’s leaders are addressing this public health crisis adequately, that everyone who has chronic hepatitis B or C is aware of their infection and that those living with viral hepatitis have access to health care and lifesaving treatment.” In his current position, Clary has led successful efforts to urge the United States Preventive Services Task Force to recommend hepatitis C testing among Baby Boomers and at risk individuals and to convince Medicare to undergo a process to consider adding hepatitis C testing to its beneficiaries as a preventive service with no cost-sharing. Clary is a member of the Executive Board of the National Hepatitis B Task Force, where he assists with shaping and advancing federal hepatitis B policy priorities. About NVHR Formed in 2003, the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) is a coalition of more than 200 public, private and voluntary organizations dedicated to reducing the incidence of infection, morbidity and mortality from viral hepatitis in the United States. We accomplish this by advocating for at-risk populations, convening visionary leaders, and coordinating a unified national response to viral hepatitis, based on current research. NVHR is a project of Community Initiatives, a San Francisco based nonprofit organization that provides fiscal sponsorship to large and small nonprofit programs and organizations. nvhr.org/sites/default/files/docs/NVHR%20announces%20new%20ED.pdf
