As reported by the "Cape Cod Times", Jaran was visiting The Squealing Pig on May 7 for a post-election victory party of Selectman-elect Thomas Donegan. Jaran says that after greeting Donegan, he sat with a friend at the bar for drinks. Shortly after, the N.W.A. song played over the speakers. Jaran was not familiar with the song, but as he listened he became uncomfortable and offended, reports the "Cape Cod Times." He said he told a restaurant employee to shut the song off and added that the person should be ashamed. Jaran said he called the owner the next day and the issue was resolved.
