Cops swarm Chabad-Lubavitch synagogue, shoot knife-wielding man after student gets stabbed (VIDEO) WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT NYPD anti-terror officers swarmed Chabad-Lubavitch in Crown Heights after Israeli student Levi Rosenviat, 22, was stabbed during prayer early Tuesday. Police fatally shot 49-year-old Calvin Peters after a tense confrontation. An Israeli yeshiva student praying in a Brooklyn synagogue was stabbed in the neck early Tuesday after a knife-wielding maniac burst inside and yelled I want to kill the Jew! NYPD anti-terror cops swarmed Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters at 770 Eastern Pkwy. not long after the 1:45 a.m. attack and fatally shot the man who had the knife, police and witnesses said. Startling video shows cops ordering the suspect to put the knife down in the basement of the building. The man initially complied, placing it on a chair. Moments later, according to the video first posted by the Israeli news site 0404, the man walks back and picks up the knife again. A single shot rang out and hit the man in the stomach, according to cops. The suspect, 49-year-old Calvin Peters, immediately went to the ground in the video. He died at Kings County Hospital at 3:15 a.m., police said. The 22-year-old student, Levi Rosenviat, was in stable condition at the same hospital, according to authorities at the scene. One cop was treated for ringing in his ears at New York Methodist Hospital. I will kill the Jew! I want to kill the Jew! a witness heard the attacker yelling as he entered the 24-hour religious center. The scene was tense before police arrived. A witness told the Daily News that Rosenviat arrived in Brooklyn two weeks ago to study. After the apparently random attack, the student was on the ground and begging for help. I went over to the floor, I saw the teenager on the floor, his hair was blood. He was saying save me, he said. A 25-year-old Israeli who was in the synagogue said he saw Peters enter and leave the building an hour before the attack. He was looking around, He asked for a book, that witness said. He looked not so much crazy, but different. When the man returned, he was armed with a knife in his hand and anger in his voice. I never thought it would happen in New York, the witness told The News. These things dont need to happen. Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Motti Seligson said synagogue officials would continue to cooperate with police in their investigation. While we are very pained by everything that has unfolded, we are very grateful to the police for their quick response and are working closely with the authorities in their ongoing investigation, said Seligson in a statement. We commend the heroic efforts of the individuals who were present and took immediate action. If not for their intervention, the outcome could have been, G-d forbid, far worse. We continue to pray for the young man who is in stable condition. https://youtube/watch?v=v4ntAF9c_uI
