Corsairs get overtime win at Reedley Sophomore Johnny Shelton led the College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team in scoring for his third straight game on Saturday, putting up a season-high 27 points as the Corsairs beat Reedley on the road 87-75 in overtime in a non-conference game. In his three games this season, Shelton has 18, 19 and now 27 points respectively, for an average of 21 points per game. “He had another great game for us,” said CR head coach Justin Mora. “He shot the ball well, he got to the basket and he did a great job being aggressive.” CR freshman Rishod Abraham had a season-high 19 points as well as the Corsairs, who went into overtime with Reedley tied 71-71. held the Tigers to just four points in the extra frame. “We had our two tallest players foul out so our tallest guy in overtime was only 6-2,” Mora said. “We did a really god job on defense, rebounding and hustling without the big guys out there.” CR’s Daymarea Green also scored in double figures, finishing the game with 14 points, while Romeo Steele and Justin Claus had two 3-pointers apiece and Shelton hit three 3s. With the win, CR improves to 2-1 on the year and will play next on Thursday at the Mendocino Tournament against Modesto.
