Cowardly and vicious attack mars Brampton Mayors race Yesterday night an anonymous, professional attack ad was posted on YouTube directed at mayoralty candidate Linda Jeffrey timed for her appearance on CP24 with Stephen LeDrew. The slick and expensive ad contained many unsubstantiated claims that cast aspersions on a twenty year plus career serving the people of Brampton both municipally and provincially. This unwarranted attack on my character and service to the community marks a new low in this campaign, said Jeffrey. Instead of focusing on the issues that matter to Bramptonians like transit, jobs and services, my opponents or their supporters have decided to spend thousands of dollars to conduct a hatchet job. The YouTube ads high production values, script and professional narration points to a well financed individual or group. Historically negative attack ads are directed at a candidates supporters in the hope of suppressing the vote. This smacks of desperation and a disrespect of Brampton voters. I call on all of my opponents to publicly condemn this ad and provide information on the source of this attack ad, Jeffrey went on to say.
