Crucifixion is the combination of the worst excruciating lingering painful torturous death known to man and the height of mockery, contempt, humiliation in display invented by the Roman Empire. To highlight the shame and disgrace the one crucified, many different postures of crucifixion was experimented by the Romans. We do not exactly know which posture our Lord suffered as our substitute. The mockery of the Prince of Glory began even before He was crucified..at the hands of Roman soldiers..(Mark 15:20; Luke 23:11) continued until and after His crucifixion. The Chief Priests, Scribes and Elders mocked Him on His face (Matt27:41). He is worshiped for His Vicarious sacrifice in Heaven. One of the Elders announce do not weep..look the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed ~ when John the apostle turns to look for the Lion.. instead of a Lion.. he sees a Lamb stricken.. standing in humiliation bleeding as though slain. THIS is the one and only Lamb that is also a LION. ~ Revelation 5: 5-6.
