Customs and IRB to conduct joint Audits on Companies The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) and the Customs Department will pool their resources to tighten the auditing process. Both government agencies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on joint audit, where auditors from both departments will work together. Customs director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said the programme was created to enhance and improve their performance in auditing, as well as to coordinate actions and ensure that no complications arose. Custom said they were sending a strong message to the business community to keep proper documentation and accounts and to cooperate with the departments to prevent malpractice or foul play. "This new initiative is to improve Custom system and the business community will have to keep up. "The auditing will allow Custom to detect any sign of malpractice or attempts to evade taxes,"
