D-Day is always a good day to honor WWII Veterans. My father was already shot up in by the time D-Day took place and returned home in Oct of 44. We owe all who served in defense of America a very large debt. This is my fathers award for his service, a Purple Heart and a notice in the newspaper of his injury and return home. He carried around a 45 slug in his leg along with a few pieces of shrapnel for the rest of his life. Never complained, but was very thankful to have survived.
