DAY & NIGHT (Status Update of Chapter “DAY & NIGHT” – Wednesday, 30th Oct 2013) Day & Night The day and the night are the two big blessings of the Creator. One illuminates the earth while the other obliterates the visibility. Life is sustained by the rest and the activity. The day promotes activity as things become visible during day time. But only visibility is not enough to carry out the search for sustenance. The bodies are to be recharged. The sun was created to provide heat & energy. Its light takes around 9 minutes to reach the earth. The sun also provides us light to facilitate our activities. “It is He that has made night that you may rest therein, and the day to make things visible to you. Verily, in this are the signs for those who listen.” Quran 10 : 67 “And among His Signs is the sleep that you take by night and by day and the quest that you make out of His bounty. Verily; in that are Signs for a people who listen.” Quran 30 : 23 When creatures tend to exhaust after work, they need rest. Sleep as a rest is both wonderful and mysterious. So Allah made night for man to take rest. Life was impossible without day or without night. Perpetual rest or perpetual work however may blunt our faculties. Besides, the earth’s rotation on its polar axis and around the sun brings alteration of day & night, and seasonal variation in climate. “And He has made the sun & the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you. And He has made the night & the day, to be of service to you.” Quran 14 : 33 “He it is that cleavers the day-break. He appoints the night for resting, and the sun & the moon for reckoning (of time). Such is the measuring of Al-Mighty, the All-Knowing. It is He who has set the stars for you so that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land & the sea. We explain Our signs in detail for people who know (understand).” Quran 6 : 96-97 In the alternation of night and the day and in all that Allah has created in the heavens & the earth are signs for those who understand. It is He who created the sun the moon & the stars governed by laws under His command. It is He is who merges the night into the day, and merges day into the night. And the sun runs for its fixed course. That is the decree of the Almighty, All-Knowing. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. No power on the earth has the ability to extend or reduce their term even for a fraction of a second. Though the sun and the moon both traverse the same belt of Zodiac, their speeds are different and they never catch up each other. The sun has 365 points for its rising and 365 points for its setting. Every day it rises and sets at a new point and after the end of the year it comes back to the original point. “And among His signs are the Day & the Night, and the sun & the moon. Prostrate yourselves, neither to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allah Who created them.” Quran 41 : 37 Everything in the universe including the stars and the planets are the creation of Allah. He has power over everything. Such is your Lord to Whom belongs all dominion. Is it not His to create & govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher & Sustainer of the worlds. And those to whom you call upon beside Him have not the power to create an atom. Or let them create a grain of barley if they can. Man is endowed with intelligence, wisdom and understanding. So he should know that worshipping created things is but senselessness. He must adore & prostrate the Creator to Whom belongs the entire universe and whatever exists therein.
