DDC reviews implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Scheme SAMBA, AUGUST 27 District Development Commissioner, Samba convened a meeting of officers of various departments ‘viz’ Revenue, Rural Development, Education, Health and Banks to review arrangements for launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Scheme in the district. The meeting was attended by ADDC Samba, Vivek Sharma, ADC, Inderjeet, ACR-M Y Malik, CPO, Devinder Singh, CMO, Tehsildars, BDOs, CDPOs and representatives of various banks. The DDC highlighted the features of scheme ‘viz’ universal access to banking facilities for all households across the country through a bank branch or a fixed point Business Correspondent (BC) called Bank Mitra within a reasonable distance, to cover all households with at least one basic Banking Accounts with RuPay Debit Card having inbuilt accident insurance cover of Rs.1 Lakh, Financial literacy programme which aims at to take financial literacy upto village level, providing micro insurance to the people, unorganized sector pension scheme like Swablamban, Expansion of Direct Benefit Transfer under various Government Schemes through bank accounts of beneficiaries and the issuance of RuPay Card. The DDC impressed upon all the officers to gear up their field staff for ensuring 100% financial inclusion of all households in the district. He asked the representatives of banks for making proper arrangements for opening of bank accounts on the day of launching the scheme. It was also informed that a mega camp shall also be organized at DC office, Complex Samba by the Banks in coordination with all the line departments on 28th of August, 2014. The DDC impressed upon the District officers and representatives of various banks for publicizing the scheme by way of involving PRI functionaries and large number of people.
