DEFIBS 4 KIDS According to the North West Ambulance, this is the very first public access defibibrillator in the Wigan area. This defib is located on the wall on the outside wall of Saint Pauls C of E school on Warrington Road in Goose Green, Wigan. Some funds for this equipment were raised by Saint Pauls C of E themselves however the shortfall was covered by Defibs4kids which is a trading entity of Fleet Dynamic CIC. Having this Defibrillator as public access now means that not only does this equipment serve to protect, the children, staff and parents of the school but also the wider community. In the event of someone going into cardiac arrest they must always first ring 999 the operator would then give the rescuer the code to access the defib from the cabinet, the defib then takes over, it is an AED which stands for automated external defibrillator, this means that the defibrillator itself talks to the rescuer through treating the cardiac arrest victim. The key is early intervention in instances of cardiac arrest, the quicker you can get the heart restarted the higher chance of survival.
