DEVELOPMENT AID - FRENCH MINISTER UNVEILS 100 MIL EURO DEV’T FUND FOR MYANMAR ********************************************************************************** French Minister of State for Development and Francophony, Mrs. Annick Girardin began her three-day visit to Myanmar Thursday. This is the French Minister’s first state visit to the country. Her visit aims to promote French development aid and cooperation policies in Myanmar, especially in the fields of health, media, education, culture, agriculture and humanitarian sectors. The Minister announced a 100 million euro development aid for Myanmar in 2015. A relative boost from France’s development aid to Myanmar last year that stood only at 23 million US dollars. In 2012, 90% of French government investment in Health development sector was for AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis. The minister said that France will also watch the 2015 elections. The minister is also attending the 2nd edition of the Women’s Forum Myanmar-ASEAN 2014, which is ongoing until Saturday in Nay Pyi Taw.
