DIVORCE, MARITAL ISSUES AND THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA So social media is amazing, news travels at the speed of sound and the panchaat as well. But I have had so many people begging me, asking me for advice when their significant others dont pay them enough attention and pay mediums like Twitter, BBM, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, WeChat etc more attention. I know for most its escapism, particularly for people with pressurised jobs, or people who are grieving in some way, or rediscovering their lives or for many who simply dont have lives. But when it starts affecting your real, tangible relationships then you know you are abusing it. I hear of spouses who after a hard days work, have a nice quiet supper together, the hubby or wife doesnt have much to say, yet loads to type on FB or BBM and to who? Do you know who your significant other is chatting to? Who they are interacting with and on what level? Is it friendly, is it crossing boundaries? Some spend all their free time with smartphone in hand, when you could rather be holding your significant others hand. Some use Social media, some abuse it and where it is being abused, it is destroying relationships, happy marriages, It is controlling peoples lives, robbing them of real relationships, robbing them of sleep coz, creating unreal fantasies.
