DLI students really are the best of the best. Whether they passed or failed. Everyone seems impressed with my skills and efforts with Korean, but I am just the tip of the iceburg. Anytime I meet up with someone from DLI I know instantly that they are as or more committed to their language than I am. I just met up with one of my friends from Monterey who is far more advanced in his language than I am(he was taking Chinese), next to him am a lightweight. And I am a guy who is looking at complete fluency in under two years of study. This is very common among DLI graduates/dropouts. We were selected from the smartest people in the military and subjected to the most stressful courses they have.
