DO WE REALLY HAVE TO DRESS LIKE THE AMISH -to be real - TopicsExpress

DO WE REALLY HAVE TO DRESS LIKE THE AMISH -to be real Christians? Now I know this is going to make some Seventh Day Adventists upset, but there are 3 areas that I personally believe that MANY Conservatives really go overboard on and that is DIET, DRESS, AND HOW TO HANDLE THE HOLIDAYS. (see my previous post about the issue of Holidays). And Ellen White CAUTIONS US on all three of these topics, NOT to be fanatical about it. Now the subject of dress for instance. YES Ellen White had quite a bit to say on the subject of dress. But she ALSO had quite a bit to say also on the subject of not becoming FANATICAL about it as well. Now take a look at the woman below. To be honest, if I were am Unbeliever, and I thought that all Seventh Day AdventistWomen dressed that way, it would cause me to believe that they were indeed strange. I saw one SDA woman on youtube advocating covering up her head and face like a Muslim. I mean, seriously, come on now! But THEN, see the picture in my second comment below -the lady in the beige-colored outfit.... she looks great! She is modest yet doesnt go out of the way to appear strange-looking. THE REVIEW AND HERALD January 30, 1900 Christians should not take pains to make themselves gazingstocks by dressing different from the world. But if, in accordance with their faith and duty in respect to their dressing modestly and healthfully, they find themselves out of fashion, they should not change their dress in order to be like the world. But they should manifest a noble independence, and moral courage to be right, if all the world differs from them. If the world introduces a modest, convenient, and healthful mode of dress, which is in accordance with the Bible, it will not change our relation to God or to the world to adopt such a style of dress. Christians should follow Christ, and conform their dress to God’s word. They should shun extremes. They should humbly pursue a straightforward course, irrespective of applause or of censure, and should cling to the right because of its own merits. i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/01/10/article-2084662-0F663EA700000578-228_306x752.jpg
