DOWNTOWN CROSSING: LOOK AHEAD LOUISVILLE, Ky. (January 21, 2014) – The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing: Work Currently Underway: Louisville Streets: • Floyd Street from Liberty Street to Muhammad Ali Boulevard is scheduled to be closed through Monday, January 27 for abutment work. • Adams Street from Campbell Street to Cabel Street is scheduled to be closed through Monday, January 27, with access to local traffic only. • Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Clay Street is scheduled to be closed through Monday, January 27 for micropiling. • The right lane of westbound Witherspoon Street from River Road to Adams Street is scheduled to be closed through Monday, February 3 for work on a retaining wall. • The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Wednesday, January 22 for work on a retaining wall. • The right lane and right parking lane on Preston Street from Market Street to Liberty Street are scheduled to be closed through Monday, February 10 for abutment work. • The left lane and both parking lanes on Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Preston Street are scheduled to be closed through Monday, February 10 for abutment work. • The right lane and left lane of Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, February 1 for piling and abutment work. • The left lane of Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, February 1 for work on a retaining wall. Work Scheduled for This Week: Kentucky Side: Work scheduled for Tuesday, January 21: • The left lane of I-64 West from Mellwood Avenue to the I-65 exit ramp is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, January 21 for guardrail repair. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Work scheduled for Wednesday, January 22: • The left lane of I-71 North from I-65 to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, January 22 to prepare for future work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. • The right lane of I-64 West from Story Avenue to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, January 22 to prepare for future work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Work scheduled for Thursday, January 23: • The right lane of I-65 South from the Kennedy Bridge to the Jefferson Street exit is scheduled to close overnight Thursday, January 23 to set beams. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. • Rolling closures are expected project-wide Thursday, January 23 for pothole patching. Work is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Work Scheduled for Next Week: Kentucky Side: Work scheduled to begin Monday, January 27: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 North is scheduled to close overnight Monday, January 27-Wednesday, January 29 to set beams. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. A signed detour will be in place. • The left lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to I-65 is scheduled to close overnight Monday, January 27-Wednesday, January 29 to set beams. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. Work scheduled for Thursday, January 30: • Rolling closures are expected project-wide Thursday, January 30 for pothole patching. Work is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Indiana Side: Long-term closure scheduled to begin Monday, January 27: • Missouri Avenue between Court Avenue and S. Clark Boulevard is scheduled to close Monday, January 27 for extensive utility work in the area. It’s expected to close early that morning and remain closed into July 2014. Continuing Closures and Restrictions: Kentucky Side: • The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016. • The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016. Indiana Side: • Broadway Street has closed from Court Avenue to 6th Street. This includes the closure of the 6th Street ramp to I-65 North. These are permanent closures. • 7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street. This is a permanent closure. • VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street. This is a permanent closure. • US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes. • US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane. Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street. • The northbound collector distributor ramp in Jeffersonville has been reduced to one lane between 10th Street and Stansifer Avenue. The closure will be in place through late 2015. The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur. Also, given the aggressive overall construction schedule for the project, Walsh DBT may shift work schedules when opportunities arise. Find all of the latest traffic information at kyinbridges. ###
