Daily tune. Once again to the way, way back machine. That young fellow in the background pic on my page is my dad who would be 104 today. He was part Irish and descended from some Shannons. This charted at #7 for Henry Burr in June 1910. Also a #1 hit for Harry Macdonough in 1910, and a #3 hit for John McCormack in March 1913. Written by James J. Russell in 1906 and believed to be the only song he wrote. I have to go with the 1913 version as the best sound, the best singer and thats the year of the aforementioned photograph. The great John McCormack hailed from Athlone - home of Tony Macken. I am told that there is a plaque outside a Chinese restaurant there marking the place where he was born. youtu.be/dNdSrIxFSYE
