Day 10 of our 25 Days Of Christmas takes us to a tune first sung on Eddie Cantors radio program in 1934 by George Taft & the Hotel Taft Orchestra. Written by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie, the song became an instant hit, with orders for 100,000 copies of the sheet music, and more than 30,000 records sold within 24 hours. Over the years, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town has been recorded by everybody from Tommy Dorsey & Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters to Bruce Springsteen & Rod Stewart. The Jackson Five scored a Number One hit on the Christmas Charts, in both 1970 & 71, with the tune. Our featured version comes from The Four Seasons, who released their version in 1962. That year, the song reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
