Day 5: 6 things I wish Id never done... Im breaking the rules and not making a list. Most of my regrets fall under a common theme anyway. My earliest and fondest memories as a child were laying on the hardwood floor of our house, drawing what I though the next generation of automobile should be. All through school, I immersed myself in every aspect of building cars I could imagine; everything from CAD design to collision repair to studying the machinery needed to manufacture. I even took it upon myself to study psychology to get into the mind of the consumer. I had it all planned out: 4 years at the University of Michigan, an internship with Ford, then to their design studio in Modesto, CA. From there, I would be off to Italy to study at Paninfarina. However, in highschool, I let my hormones take control and effectively threw away my scholarships and my dreams. Ive struggled ever since to find my place. This thought does have a happy ending. Im still in manufacturing, soaking up every bit of knowledge I can. Ive decided my past will not stop me, nor will the lack of money. In the near future, I will end up in Italy or Germany. Maybe a trip next summer to check things out.
