Day 5 The challenge: One week. 3 things Im grateful for daily. Tagging 3 others to continue the challenge each day. Blame that quirky friend of mine. Ill get to him in a minute. 1) Im grateful for swimming. It kept me out of a lot of potential trouble. It allowed me to see most of NC & parts of the US very early in life. It instilled a killer work ethic in me that still exists. Swimmers are some of the craziest, toughest, most loyal hard working mofos you might ever meet. It taught me team goals can be achieved through individual accomplishments. It gave me some of the best friends I could imagine. Finally the sport is getting its due; some of the girls & guys have celebrity, rock star status. And they should. It is one of the toughest sports, physically & mentally. The dedication to succeed is unmeasurable; both for the swimmer & their family. Swimming doesnt just exist at the Olympics, its an everyday, year round, two time a day ordeal. 2) Im thankful for the friendship of Bradford Shane Shellhammer. We met when we were just discovering who each of us were, while still trying to convince those around us we were who we wanted them to think we were. But Brad has taught me freedom. The true, overused cliche of dance like no one is watching but more so MAKE THEM WATCH! We ran through the woods together wearing shiny silver Hilfiger jackets, originally playing volleyball with a Dolphin. We grew together, cried and laughed together, even went to wrestling once together. His little redneck friend he would introduce me & referred to me as such in his Manhattan Project. Now he is one of the biggest American success stories I personally know of. And he has kept my friendship, which means the world to me, even while traveling to Greece, Spain, India & other places I cant pronounce. Tagged me for this challenge, remembers my birthday, sends me a Christmas card, will return texts & emails...larger than life & he keeps it real, remembering ALL his friends. He has quickly gone from a participant in HIS world to the LEADER. Biggest, most extravagant wedding I, or anyone, will ever go to. THE king of New York, and through his friendship I experienced HIS city for the first time. No one laughs louder, sings stronger & loves deeper than the man I simply call Brad. I wish hed randomly give me like $20,000, but thats another story. 3) Im grateful for chickens. Seriously. Those little f*ckers are delicious. Wings, thighs, omlettes. Chicken Omelette...take the egg out chicken, cook the chicken, put the chicken in the egg. Damn brilliant. tag 3 to keep it going... Brandon Salinas Malo Mono Casie Lester get to it
