Day 7- I am thankful for my in-laws. This may sound strange coming from most men, but I am truly thankful for my in-laws, Kenneth and Linda Jacoby, or Maj and Paj, as I like to call them (short for Ma-J and Pa-J), are truly quite a blessing to me and my family. Our families are intermingled and there is sooooo much that we have all done together over the last 21+ years. First and foremost, the Jacobys are our camping buddies. Since 1999 not a summer has gone by without us taking several trips together to the state parks or Oakland County parks to set up our rigs and spend some quality time together, catching our R&R out in the sun. We usually have such a blast and thats truly when we get to see them shine as grandparents!! Dad is always taking Andrew out fishing and never complains a bit about it, even though I ALWAYS complain about it and dont usually care for the sport much. Mom is always fantastic on these trips and with her home cooking, you NEVER leave the dinner table hungry!! My in-laws are always there for us and have helped us out too many times to count. From the day I met them and they got to meet the clown who was dating their daughter, they have been very fair and treated me well. I truly feel like I am a part of their family. We have our inside jokes. (Fritos, the cookies on top of the fridge, 64 ounces of Mountain Dew and a large coffee on the way to Cedar Point at 7 in the morning, talking through movies, ROCKS FOR CHRISTMAS!! etc, etc, etc. The list could go on and on. Lol.) Through it all, they have been good to me and I will forever be in their debt. They showed their capacity for grace and forgiveness to me at a very early stage in our relationship, when they learned that their daughter was pregnant. I was absolutely certain that I would be tossed out and forced to never see Katrina again. However, they surprised me by welcoming me and accepting me as the father of their grand-daughter. Ken surprised me again the following year by awarding me an application to Chrysler, the company where I have made my life and career. This is certainly no small thing!! My job is truly a cherished one and I am part of a very fortunate and elite group of workers just to have the employment opportunity I have been given. I am thankful for my job for sure, but that will be talked about in a future post this month. The Jacobys are truly family to me and I cannot say enough good things about them. I love you guys and thank God everyday for giving me a wife with such an awesome set of parents. You guys are the best!! :) *Be sure to remember this post when shopping for my Christmas present. ;)
