Day fifteen: I woke up in a terrible shock. There’s no one - TopicsExpress

Day fifteen: I woke up in a terrible shock. There’s no one coming today. There was no one coming yesterday because they still don’t realize that I’m gone. I was only due back at work yesterday, but yesterday was Friday. They will assume that I decided to stay out Friday and have the weekend off to go with it. That’s normal for me. But what’s worse is, they won’t realize that I’m gone until at least Monday. And then how long will it take for them to get here. 2 days, maybe 3? Who knows? I’m not sure, but my best guess for rescue is not for at least another 7 days, and that’s a horrible thought to wake up to. I don’t know how I could have missed such an important detail. I must not be thinking clearly. I guess I’m a little stressed out about being here. I also haven’t had a smoke, and this is the longest I’ve ever gone without one. I’m going to scratch my face off soon; I’ve never gone a day or two without shaving. I’m so sick of eating fish that I started working on a bird trap. If I can at least catch 1 or 2 a week, then I can start to vary my diet. There’s a tree here that looks like a palm but it makes little orange berries that taste so sweet. They took my mind off my troubles for a good while. I squeezed several of them into the coke bottle and had a fruit juice that could have done with some sugar but overall wasn’t that bad. I wonder if I was at home if I would think it was good. I would probably spit it out in disgust. But here, in this jungle hell, it’s as sweet as the finest champagne.
