Day one (for me) of Boston Comic Con is over! I dont actually have a camera or a cell phone capable of taking impressive pics, but I snapped a few shots of my cosplay with my webcam before I set out, and I took some of the prints I purchased at the con today. Ill share some actual pics of the con once the ones my friends took start popping up in my feed. Anywho, I visited Mike McKone and got a really nice Robin print. Im blanking on the name of the artist who drew the Psylocke one. He had mostly Marvel on his table, and I mostly read DC, so thats probably why I wasnt familiar with him, but I really liked the print. I also got my copies of the Presidential Race two parter of the Flash signed by Mark Waid and Paul Ryan. Mark Waid was ridiculously pleasant. I chatted with him for a few minutes about Piper, who is possibly my favorite comic book character ever, and he actually seemed surprised I brought him up, but then really happy. He said that even though its commonplace now, when he was working with Piper in the 90s there was a lot of pressure on him about his portrayal of a gay character, and that he had to fight really hard to make him just a normal guy, which I thought was cool. Thats one of the reasons I like Piper so much. Despite the time period, he didnt succumb to stereotypes. He feels like a real person. I also saw Gail Simone again and bought a Secret Six script from her, and the day was rounded out by chatting with Kate Leth and getting a Kate or Die convention mini.
