Dear All, Reports indicate that OIBM has been hit twice within a week by armed robbers. The first was their Kasungu Branch where seventy two million kwacha (K72, 000, 000) was stolen. On Tuesday, 25th June, 2013 OIBM Area 23 Branch has been robbed of thirty two million kwacha (K32,000, 000). The suspects in all these are former staff members who were dismissed some few days ago. Today, 26th June, 2013, International Commercial Bank (ICB) has been robbed of thirty eight million kwacha (K38,000,000.00). They were going to Reserve bank to deposit money. They hired police officers and they used an ICB van. While on their way, it is heard that the hired police officers turned to be criminals. It is yet to be established on how the police officers were hired. Let us be alert at all times by adhering to security measures in place and report any suspicious individual(s) to police. Those with responsibility of hiring armed police officers, let us be extra cautious by making sure that we formally hire armed police officers from police stations and police mobile service companies formally by contacting police authorities in person so that “proper” police officers are assigned to you.
