Dear Friends, I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that I will be leaving Yachad LA as of June 30th. This year has been one of incredible success, as the chapter has reached new heights with increased programming, more shabbatonim, and greater awareness in the community of what Yachad’s mission is. Yachad champions the inclusion of all Jewish individuals with disabilities, ensuring their participation in the full spectrum of Jewish life. Yachad has shown the Los Angeles community the value of true inclusion. Synagogues have opened their doors to Yachad programming, local schools have asked Yachad to provide Sensitivity Trainings for their students, and this is just the beginning of a very bright future ahead. It is with great sadness that I will not be a part of this journey going forward. At the end of the month, I will be concluding my time with Yachad LA and will be attending law school in the fall. For the last four years, we have worked together to create something unique and special in Los Angeles, and I thank you for the opportunity. Yachad today is at a very different place than it was a few years ago and Yachad’s values now permeate the entire community. To me, Yachad was never just a vocation. It was an avocation and a deep passion. The decision to leave has been one of the most difficult decisions I have made in my life. Yachad has played such a significant role in my personal development, as I began my involvement as a high school participant, worked in various Yachad summer camps, served as the Assistant Director for three years, and now have had the opportunity of a lifetime: to serve as the Yachad LA Director. This was always a dream of mine, and I am so appreciative that it came to fruition. My goal was to make Yachad LA a recognizable name and an organization that people would want to be a part of. I believed that Yachad could be the organization that proved to people that socializing with people with special needs is not chessed but fun. Together, we have made these dreams a reality. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for helping make this possible. Saying goodbye has always been difficult for me and I wish I had the opportunity to say goodbye to each of you individually and to thank you for making Yachad a part of your life. While it is goodbye for now, I hope that I am able to maintain the relationships that we have created over the years. If you would like to contact me in the future, my email is ijlurie@gmail. For general questions about Yachad, during the summer please email [email protected], and if it is pressing, please contact [email protected]. Plans for the future replacement director are well on their way and more information will be released later this summer. Yachad is an organization the Los Angeles community should be very proud of, and I look forward to hearing about its continued success in the years ahead. Warmly, Ian Lurie
