Dear God I do not know how wise it is for me to tell you that - TopicsExpress

Dear God I do not know how wise it is for me to tell you that we live in trying times here in Nigeria. Being all knowing, you know this much more than I do. Well, I think I should rather start by thanking you for many, very many things. We often complain that we have no shoes till we meet one that has no feet. Thank you Lord for your many blessings on our dear country Nigeria. Back to my issue, Lord. It is about 2015 and the elections in Akwa Ibom State. As a leader in the state, many of our people, especially the youths, are depending on me to know which direction to go with respect to which candidate to support for the various elective offices, particularly the office of the governor. All the aspirants are very well known to me. Some have done me favours in the past, while others are close friends, associates, and even colleagues from the 2007 group where I was the Secretary of the Aspirants Forum. But, Lord, will I, or should I support, or recommend any of them to be supported on grounds of friendship or relationship? Is that what I am really expected to do as an elder? Does it not matter that my close friend might not be the best for the state? It is exactly here that I am compelled to come to you, my BOSS. I am concerned about betraying confidence, misleading the people, and ultimately, hurting my conscience. I have a good idea of what I want, what I have seen, what I hate, and what I dont want to see in my state from 2015. But, all that is as a man can see. You are God, and thus my plea. Dear Lord, I see as a man, but you are God. I have an idea of what makes sense, but the pretenses of man can blind us to the truth, and reality. Whoever should be our governor, must be one that sincerely CARES about our people. One that is not in for personal and parochial interest, but one that has a heart to genuinely develop the state through developing the people irrespective of tribe or political affiliation, seeing the state and its resources as the right of all, and managing the resources of the state as public and not personal empire. Supporting a person MUST NOT be based on friendship or personal considerations, but on the GREATER GOOD of the state. Who, dear Lord, is that person that sincerely desires to build families by entrenching the work culture of going to office in the morning and closing in the evening so that fathers will go back and stay with their families at night, and decent women will be free to be active part of the political process and not be disenfranchised by the night meeting political habit? Who will be willing to discourage the political boys culture where our youths now want to be SA to PAs, and where PAs even have their own PAs and SAs? Who will bring our youths back to the culture of the dignity of labour, discourage political hangers-on, create jobs, real jobs for our youths and not exploit their vulnerability while castigating them? Who will be ready to restructure the civil service back to the pool of productive, well motivated, and professional work force? Who, dear Lord, who is that person? Who is that person whos success will not be defined by the number of infrastructural projects, but by the number of humans that he/she has developed that will form the critical mass of the future of the state. That person whos turn-on will not be the next alert that shows that he/she is meeting the target of his/her inordinate personal financial projections, but rather, by the number of smiles on fulfilled faces of his people. That man to whom political expediency has no higher weight that moral rectitude. Dear Lord, please who is that person? Today I see as a man, but you are GOD, who sees the heart of every man. To the above, they all will respond in the affirmative, BUT, you know, Lord, that thats what they all always say. They deceive us, and they destroy us, BUT, you know, Lord that before you, their heart is an open page. I therefore come before you on behalf of myself and virtually every other Nigerian to plead that you help us. Help us to dare to stand for what is right and sustainable. Help our youths to know better and take a stand for their better future, and not destroy their future by yielding to the power of the so called stomach infrastructure myopic pull. Help us elders to have a conscience and stand for the truth, for justice and equity, and not to betray our age, and the confidence of the people by projecting not the best, but those that are willing to settle us. Help our public office seekers to see public offices as platforms to advance the cause of the land, and not to boost their egos, rape our treasuries for their selfish ends, and destroy the future of our unborn children. With man, these sound utopian, BUT, you are GOD, and with you, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!! I am starting to feel better so I will pause for now, BUT, please understand if I return. This matter is serious, and I am determined to see it to the end. Before I leave, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your goodness, kindness, patience, and love for this country Nigeria. I can see your plan for this country and, being the God that I know, what you have set out to do in this country will surely come to pass. Bo-ekom, eti Ette, ke enying Jesus!! AMEN!!!!!!!
