Dear Indie Artists. How much does CD Baby actually net you? - TopicsExpress

Dear Indie Artists. How much does CD Baby actually net you? Also, do you know that when they file Copyright Claims on live recordings on YouTube, they try to claim any monetization that is applied to the videos? Also, they dont pay you for that. They are literally trying to make money off of people who worked for hours recording, editing, and uploading concert footage on your behalf.. behind your back. In the last few months, I have fought off over two dozen copyright claims. WMG, Arista, Republic Records, CD Baby, and a bunch of tinier parasites on my YouTube channel. I started having to monetize concert footage because that actually strengthened my defenses for some reason. I also fought and beat Focus Features and Universal Pictures in the last three months. So, I power napped because I knew that, within minutes, of uploading the latest Area DMG video, I would have to dispute an automated copyright claim from CD Baby. Almost every time. Its not even done processing for 1080p and CD Baby thinks it is theirs and doesnt belong to the band that made it. It also helps to have a business license that says Hey. We are an established NEWS PUBLISHER and what that entails. If they want, I can show them my FCC Credentials. I can file FOIA Requests, just like CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and others. Sigh. Its such an annoying process. But the concert footage is worth it. This Matt Nasi Band concert from The Running of the Leaves 2014 is superb. Seriously, grab some headphones. youtu.be/4s3Twgjtv9I
