Dear Mr President, I wrote to you last week asking for help. I - TopicsExpress

Dear Mr President, I wrote to you last week asking for help. I also wrote to Governor Cuomo but received no response. You must be busy with the summer holidays and all. I want to know how you sleep at night knowing what is happening to the Palestinians day after day? Do you have nightmares? I do. Since I wrote to you, the death toll has gone up to over 750 Palestinians and over 4500 injured. The majority are civilians, women and children. 30 members of two families were wiped out on Sunday. Multiple generations blown to shreds. Aid is being blocked, 90% of the water is unsafe to drink and they have been deprived of every basic human right for years. More than 50% of households in Gaza dont have enough food to feed their families and over 40% are unemployed - how can these very people, refugees in their own country, be labeled as terrorists? My father was Palestinian and my family still live there. Over 400 villages were destroyed in 1948, including my familys village. They were given less than one hour to evacuate their homes or they would be exterminated. What can you take with you in one hour? Nothing. 800,000 Palestinians were driven out of Palestine. Today, Israel continues to drive Palestinians out and worse, continues to drive them to their death. Children are being left to die on the streets. These are someones children, someones brothers and someones grandchildren. The 550+ Palestinians who have died have names and faces. I want you to look at their photos and read their names; you will notice entire families on there. This is happening whilst Israelis are being caught on camera spectating and cheering whilst the bombs massacre hundreds of innocent people. Israeli Politicians such as Ayelet Shaked are openly making statements about killing all Palestinian mothers and children to stop them giving birth to more snakes. Dr.Mordechai Kedar on the other hand thinks that mothers and sisters of Palestinians who dare defend themselves should be raped. Eli Ben Dahan stated that Palestinians dont deserve to live because we are nothing more than animals. Are these the leaders you support? Is this the government you have a special relationship with? What is happening is not about religion, it is not about race, it is about human beings and the genocide that is taking place in front of our eyes, today. How much suffering do the Palestinians have to endure in order for the American government to step in? The American people, London, Dublin, Chile and all over the world are stepping in - including Jews, Muslims, Christians and so many more. I thank every single person for their support. I understand you have political concerns and that there may be consequences if you stand up for Palestine, but as well as being the President you are a husband, a father and a human being so maybe you can find it in your heart to help. If you or any other human being needed my help I would help without a doubt. I hope your government steps in soon before the Palestinian nation is completely extinguished. They dont deserve the pain, heart break and suffering that they have had to live with for so many years. You are the President of the most powerful nation in the world; please step in and help to stop this inhumane massacre of life. I always supported you as a President and was very happy when you got elected as did my family. Now we need your support. As a citizen of the world you owe it to the millions of people who have supported you throughout your journey. Please do your part and speak up. When we find ourselves begging the world to step in and stop the killing of women, children and innocent human beings we realize there is something seriously wrong with humanity. We will not give up the fight for freedom, for peace and for basic human rights. Dear Mr. President, I dare you to spend one night in Gaza, just one, so that you can experience the fear, the heart break, the madness of this genocide. You may think differently then. You may do differently then. As Nelson Mandela said We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians. Have a heart. Call for Peace and Freedom. I hope you can have a good night and sweet dreams. The rest of us will continue to hear the sound of bombs, of screams and of dying children until your government wakes up. From, Nabila Salem (on behalf of the dead, the wounded, the supporters and the people who genuinely care).
