Dear Mrs A Enticknap, THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO SAVE LIVES! I can’t thank you enough for taking the time and trouble to donate your items to sell in our shops and for the important Gift Aid declaration you made on 03 Aug 2013. I’m delighted to tell you that your items have raised £38.95. Gift Aid currently adds 25% in value to your donations, so you can understand why it’s so important to us. Please see below for more details about Gift Aid. These much needed funds are already helping us to fund vital research into heart disease and to find lasting treatments for heart attack patients. So you are directly helping to save more lives. What a truly wonderful and easy way to create so much good out of your unwanted items! Now you know just what can be achieved with your donations, why not have a really good clear out through your home to see what else you could possibly bring in that could make all the difference to someone’s life. Clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, books, DVDs, CDs, small electricals, sofas, suites and TVs are always in constant demand and can help to raise urgently needed funds. Thank you again for your generous donation. Together, we can beat heart disease - for good. Yours sincerely Margaret Robinson Gift Aid Administrator Charity Number 225971 (England and Wales) and SC039426 (Scotland) P.S. This September, Bag-athon is back and we’re asking people across the UK to join the bag-filling action! It’s easy to take part; simply fill a bag with the things you no longer need, or if you’re feeling competitive, take on a Bag-athon Challenge and fill as many bags as you can. Find out more today at bhf.org.uk/bagathon IMPORTANT - GIFT AID ELIGIBILITY The Gift Aid scheme is regulated by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), so there are a few things we need to check. Please read the details below to make sure you’re happy to be a Gift Aid donor. If this is all correct then you don’t need to do anything else. As a Gift Aid donor with the British Heart Foundation, you have confirmed that: You are a UK taxpayer We should contact you to advise you how much we have raised from the sale of your goods, once sufficient items have been sold, before we can claim the 25% Gift Aid You have or will pay an amount of UK income or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that all charities and CASCs (Community Amateur Sports Clubs) that you donate to will reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next). If you have not paid sufficient income tax or capital gains tax to cover the Gift Aid tax being claimed on your donations you may need to pay the shortfall of tax to HM Revenue and Customs. Other taxes like VAT and council tax do not qualify. You would like the British Heart Foundation to reclaim tax on any donation you have made to the charity in the last four years prior to this date and any future donations you may make until you notify us otherwise You are not acting as a business in bringing goods in for sale to any BHF shop The goods which you are donating are yours to give and do not belong to another household You wish BHF Shops Ltd to act as your agent in selling your donated goods, at a charge of 1% commission plus VAT Any goods which cannot be sold will be recycled where possible and cannot be returned to the donor KEEPING IN TOUCH We are required by HMRC to let you know how much money has been raised from the sale of your items. Please contact us if you move or if there is a change in your circumstances and as a result you need to cancel your Gift Aid declaration. Email [email protected] with your name, postcode and donor reference number and explain the change you would like to make. Alternatively, please write to us at the address given below. CHANGED YOUR MIND? As the nation’s heart charity, we rely on your generous support to beat heart disease. If you no longer want to be a Gift Aid donor, please contact us within 30 days of the date of this email. We will not reclaim any tax from HMRC. After 30 days you can stop being a Gift Aid donor at any time - just contact us using the details provided. As part of the Gift Aid scheme you can choose to retain the funds raised from the sale of your donations. If you wish to do this (and we really hope that you don’t) please ensure that we receive your request in writing within 21 days of the date of this email at British Heart Foundation, Retail Division, Crown House, Church Road, Claygate, Surrey KT10 0BF, with your name, postcode and donor reference number contained in the subject line of this email. We’ll then send you a cheque for the funds raised, excluding a 1% commission fee and VAT. As soon as we know that you wish to make a reclaim, we’ll remove your details from our database. We will not claim Gift Aid on any future sales from your donations. Should you wish to unsubscribe from this email service, or if you have any further questions, please do not reply to this email; instead contact [email protected] quoting your donor reference number.
