Dear Sania , As early as I can remember , I always had Muslim friends . Starting right from the days when I didnt even know that they were Muslims . The orthodox views of my family members were sometimes antagonistic and sometimes indifferent towards my friendships . I never understood them . Never when my father loaded me with songs of Mohammad Rafi in my childhood , so much so that I can easily recognize and hum any of his songs at any point of time . Never when my nanaji used to praise Naushad for his music and Gulzar for his words in the golden Bollywood era . Never when my mom used to cook various items for my Muslim friends when they used to come over . Never when my dadi used to accuse them of eating cows meat when we ourselves never spared any other animal in the food chain . Never when my roommate used to pump up the volumes of our new Sony player for the Vande Mataram song of A.R Rahman . Never when we as students used to take pride in Dr. APJ Abdul Kalams achievements , and be furious when someone used to add Azaad to his name . And nor do I understand it today , when the new maid in my flat asks me surprisingly how our old maid was a Muslim . So, believe me when I tell you that idiots and assholes like Mr K Lakshman of BJP flourish in numbers in this country , and you cannot do anything about it . I can only assure you that people like us who never understood this divide will always be in an ever strengthening number . And let those who understand it , dwell and be pitied upon by us . For those who turn against their own countrymen , are the real traitors who are unpatriotic towards our country . Have you abandoned your country ? No ! Have you stopped playing for us ? No ! Do you still love your country ? Yes ! Then why do you feel guilty ? If marrying someone from a different country makes you a daughter-in-law of that country , then a lot of Indian people who have married people from other countries are in-laws of those countries , and India is a nation of traitors . Dont spare a tear for unapologetic bastards who always have a propaganda of division in their minds . We are Indians , and no one can take that away from us .
