Dear Sivells Families, Our first annual Literacy Character Parade - TopicsExpress

Dear Sivells Families, Our first annual Literacy Character Parade that will close our Red Ribbon week is coming up! The parade will be held on Friday, October 31st at 8:15 a.m. Students who choose to wear costumes for the parade should come to school dressed in their costumes. The costumes should be worn over regular school clothes so that they can easily take them off in the classrooms. If this is not accessible with the costume, provide a change of school clothes in a labeled gallon ziploc bag for your child. All students will need to change in an efficient manner. If your child’s costume has a prop (i.e. toy swords, toy guns, chains, skates, or spray cans) that must be carried in the hand of the student, please leave this part at home, as this type of prop is NOT allowed at school. Also, if the student’s costume requires extravagant make-up or sprayed hair DO NOT put on the make-up for school. Save the props and make-up for the evening. Send a labeled gallon Ziploc bag so that your child can put their costume safely away after the parade and it stays nice for Halloween night. All parents are welcome to bring lawn chairs and gather around the back-door horseshoe drive no earlier that 8 a.m. You may park is designated areas and wait in your vehicles as to keep everyone safe during the morning student drop-off. There will be signs indicating parent parade seating areas and signs with barricades to help with parking (baseball parking lot). After the character parade the classes will resume to normal, so we ask all parents and grandparents to take video and pictures during the parade only. The parade will begin with pre-k followed by kindergarten and first grade. Parade visitors we ask you to make sure to stay behind designated and roped areas to help us keep the parade route safe and clear for our students. COSTUME GUIDELINES Costumes should not be too scary (so students are not frightened). Costumes are not allowed to have any dangerous objects or props. Students need school clothes under the costume or have regular school clothes to change into. Costumes should not be too long, too short, too tight, or see-through Costumes should not include things on the hands or face that would interfere with sight. Shoes must be safe (regular dress code - no flip flops, slippers or high heels) Students may wear a face mask during the parade only. Any questions or concerns about costumes please call us at 979-532-6866 Many thanks and we hope to see you there!
