Dear all, As per the new rules of the School of Business, there has been a major change in the format of the internship report - effective from this semester onwards. You will not be following the previous guidelines provided to you anymore. That means, you do not have to select any topic, prepare a research proposal or long reports. Also, there will be no need to prepare a questionnaire, collect data on a topic and then analyze that data. The entire format has been changed and Ill give you a brief overview of the new format in this email. Basically, the internship report that you will now prepare will be a reflection of your internship experience. There are two things that you will focus on: 1. Report - where you will briefly talk about your internship organization, the department that you work in and the people that you work with. Then, you will talk about your job as an intern in that organization, what lessons did you learn from the internship experience, how was your interaction with your supervisor and co-workers and what are the difficulties that you faced. Finally, you will talk about your expectations and your achievements, how this internship has influenced your career plans and what changes you would like to make to your internship experience. This entire report should not be more than 5 pages. There is no format/structure of this report. You may choose your own structure. Just mention whatever points I have mentioned here or is mentioned in the new internship guidelines. 2. Weekly Journal - You will need to maintain a journal, which is actually a file of weekly notes on your internship experience. Throughout the week, what work have you done as an intern, what did you learn or achieve, what were your observations - you should mention all these things and you should also report any notable incidents that you encountered in the week. This weekly journal should be emailed to me during every weekend. I assume you do an internship for 13 weeks/3 months. So, I should be receiving 12/13 weekly journals from you. Again, there is no format/structure/length of journal. You may choose your own structure. However, all the journals that you email me should be attached to the report as an appendix. Listed below are the evaluation criteria for the new internship report. Quality of Journal = 15% Interaction with supervisor = 10% Report = 60% Report writing = 15% It has been advised by the School of Business that you submit your internship report in this very semester. If you think you cannot do so, you can be assigned an I (Incomplete) grade and next semester, when you submit the report, you will get your actual grade. Please note this is just a brief overview. I would suggest you to meet me as soon as possible, preferably in the coming week on Sunday or Monday, in my office hours so that you can collect the new internship guidelines and we can discuss about this new format in details. Ill guide you more once we meet face-to-face. Im sure you are very much confused about this new format. Right now, the only thing that I can suggest you is to Google! I hope you get the hint.
