Dear friends and members of the Ukrainian Community, ST. GEORGES AND ST. JOHNS PARISHIONERS ALL SUPPORTERS OF UKRAINE A public event in support of the crisis in Ukraine has been planned for the city of Oshawa! YOUR SUPPORT OF AN OFFICIAL FLAG RAISING CEREMONY IS CRUCIAL TO THE SUCCESS OF THE OFFICIAL FLAG RAISING CEREMONY AT OSHAWAS CITY HALL. More than ever before, we beseach you to take time out of your busy schedules and attend this ceremony for approximately half an hour. The following information below was prepared by former president of the Oshawa/Durham Ukrainian Congress and is an invitation for EVERYONE to participate. As you know, the Ukrainian flag has been flying over Oshawa city hall for the past week or so. However, the Mayor and Council as well as many members of the community felt that we should have a more formal flag raising ceremony. To that end next Wednesday, March 19 at 1pm, we will have such a ceremony and we would request that you spread the word to have as many members of the Oshawa Ukrainian community attend as possible. There will be prayers and a short program (15 minutes or so) as well as an official flag raising. I respectfully request Fathers Hladio and Hancharyk to let their parishes know at their Sunday services. As for the rest of you, please spread the word as much as possible through your circle of contact. Many seniors do not have email,. PLEASE PHONE THEM DIRECTLY! PLEASE HELP US SHOW THE OSHAWA COMMUNITY THAT WE CARE ABOUT UKRAINES FUTURE! BRING FLAGS, BRING SIGNS! LEND YOUR VOICE AND SUPPORT TO THIS EVENT!
