Deir Albahari (2)... Of the most important monuments lies in the Necropolis of Thebes at Deir Albahari is what so called the mortuary temple of queen Hatshepsut. To appreciate this beautiful temple of her, one should know a little about her character. Hatshepsut whose lineage to the great royal wife Ahmose, made her the only lawful heir among all Thutmose Is, as all his sons were being of non-royal wives (minor wives ). consequently she married to her half-brother Thutmose II who was of weak character, as she practiced the ruling during his reign. she was indisputably iron-willed and not willing to let the fact that she was a woman stand in her way. she assumed a throne name Maet-Ka- Ra, which means Goddess Maaet is the soul of Ra, she wore the royal kilt shindit (Pharaohs skirt with long tail) and ceremonial false beard, which considered to be the emblem and the badges of kingship. she proved her right to the throne in numerous reliefs of her divine birth. Once Hatshepsut had secured her right to the throne, she embarked on the building of temples and monuments throughout Thebes and also on restoration of the old monuments of her ancestors. this may be because she hadnt great wars during her reign. although she had two tombs, her body hadnt found in neither. her first tomb was dug in he valley of the kings where all members of the royal family were laid to rest, in the 18th. dynasty. while the second one was in the Taket Ziad Valley south of Deir Albahari and overlooking the valley of the kings. Her great architect Senmut whilst drawing inspiration from the adjacent 11th. Dynastey Pahroha kings; Montuhoteb II and Montuhoteb III, carried that out in a very large scale. he designed a terraced sanctuary composing courts, one above the other with concerning inclined planes at the center. Shrines were dedicated to Hathoor, Anobis and chambers devoted to the cult of the queen and her parents. elshamstravel magicalegypt.wordpress/2014/07/09/aswan
