Exhausted after long hours at the track and little sleep. We drove through the night last night arriving home at 6.30am this morning for a quick shower then straight back to work. The things us drifters do for our obsession! What and experience WTAC and TIDC have been. My first and hopefully not last international drift competition and I can now say I have ticked another track off my list as I not only drifted the South Circuit but was also asked to take the Tectaloy competition winners for passenger laps on the North Circuit which I had never driven before. At this event I had the opportunity to battle big name international drivers such as Gaz Whiter, Max Orido and Mad Mike which was AMAZING! When I drew Mad Mike in my top 32 battle I knew I was going to struggle to match his skill and keep up with that monster of a car so rather than being nervous I was just so excited and wanted to have the most fun I could possibly have with it. I mean its not every day you get to battle someone like that! I gave in my best shot but there was no way I could match that speed. I must have done alright against him though as the next day I had so many people coming up to me saying how well I did which made me feel good so thank to those who gave me that feedback! Unfortunately my Go Pro went flat right before these battles so im keen to find some footage on Youtube to check out the battles. After being knocked out early I made the most of the expression session at the end of the night and I must say I owned that!! It was the most fun I had all weekend, if only I had of driven like that during qualifying and the actual comp I would have given Mike a better run for his money. Definately something I need to work on is to block out the comp nerves and drive like its an expression session all the time because it makes the world of difference. We also had our Sleeka Spares trade stand set up in the main pit area selling and promoting my sponsors products so when I wasnt on track I was serving in the shop and had the car on display at the shop. It was great to meet so many people from all over Australia and the world! Thankyou to those who came up and introduced yourselves. It’s great to put faces to names of those fans on my Facebook drift page. As usual the car ran faultlessly all weekend thanks to David at Sleeka Spares, Brenton at Fours N More, Gavin, Brett and Nathan and thanks to Brett for all the hours you put in with the trade stand prep during the weeks leading up to the event. Also thanks to Chantelle and Lee, Dad and Vera for making the trip over to show your support and a special mention to BJ Schembri for getting me pumped before my battles with Mike. It seriously helped :) Huge thanks to my sponsors for helping me get to the event and your on-going support, Sleeka Spares, gktech.au, Turbo By Garrett, Liqui-Moly Australia, House of Kolor Australia, Meguiars Australia, City Discount Tyres Elizabeth, Old School Kustoms, Sonic Performance, Project-MU, Kingz of Kaoz, The Lodge Fitness Centre, GReddy, Einsign, Simonbuilt and my newest sponsor who I was yet to announce as they forgot to send out the stickers for the car with the product that they sent DICKIES! Lastly thankyou to Amy, Ian and Greg for inviting me to be a part of this event and thanks to all the officials especially Yoshi you’re a gun and the drift scene is so lucky to have you. Now time to get stuck in to the S15 build and hopefully next time I’m back at South Circuit it will be in the new car :D :D
