Dependence on fortune tellers (see my post of yesterday) is surpassed only by the dependence on shrines as far as the survival pf Pakistani politicians is concerned. In this regard, their religion, race, creed, or ethnic and regional affiliation does not matter. The nature of the dead body inside the grave also does not matter. It could be a Muslim, Sikh, or Hindu saint, the more popular the shrine, the more politicians will turn up to be seen there. PPP politicians would cross borders even into India to be seen at the Indian shrines of celebrated saints. Of course, the whole exercise is frowned upon by a major sect of Islam but these politicians do not care that the original Islamic texts consider it Haram and prohibit it explicitly if anybody prays to the occupants of these shrines instead of praying to the only Almighty Creator of us all. I find it amusing that the richest samdhi duo on the planet of this countrys Prime Minister and Finance Minister almost always do it together. Since Nawaz has the keys to the holiest sites of Islam in Mecca and Medina thanks to being an asset of Saudi intelligence agency, he feels he is uniquely privileged. He learned this creed from his political parent, General Zia, and has perfected it to an art form. By marrying his daughter to Dars son, he has ensured that the billions accumulated by both of them due to their official positions, will stay in their family, regardless of how long they stay in power. Their sons and daughters now control billions of dollars in tax free holdings all around the world. They are exempt from Pakistani accountability because by design most of the wealth is safely in tax exempt jurisdictions outside Pakistan. During the current protest movement against their rule, they have received solid support from Pakistans creditors because their investment in these two families will go down the toilet if they lose their positions of power. The two of them also get major support from GCC and other countries where most of their own investment is. The biggest enemies of Pakistani revolutionaries are not just inside the halls of power in Islamabad, they are all over Downing Street and Pennsylvania Avenue as well. That is why I laugh when I hear that Imran and Qadri are being accused by Sharifs of them being British or American agents. The fact is that the Shrines of Allegiance for the Sharifs now are in Dubai, Riyadh, Washington, and London and not in Lahores Data Darbar. DrMuhammad M Awan 9/25/14
