The patience needed to negotiate successfully Knowing and working the details in order to get value for the money spent. Understanding what needs to be kept confidential. Job Profile:- 1) Maintain records of goods ordered and received. 2) Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales. 3) Control purchasing department budgets. 4) Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 5) Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability. 6) Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. 7) Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials. 8) Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers. 9) Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers. 10) Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids. 11) Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them 12) Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided; 13) Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality; Administer on-line purchasing systems.
