Despite the almost incessant rain of the past four days, we have managed to put over a ton of firewood aside so far, most recently harvesting part of an ancient maple which blew down in a windstorm last spring. Next week--harvest the trees it crushed when it fell over, then the annual wind blown trees at the edge of the woods. Of all our land, fully 75 acres are given over to woodland. I feel sorry for those Nova Scotians who cannot get firewood this year because our NS government, in its infinite wisdom, has given it all to greedy pulp mills and to be sold as pellet fuel to the Europeans.
