Did you know... that Latvia had its very own P.T. Barnum in the person of Albert Salamonsky (1839 - 1913), a German promoter, horse trainer and performer who created his own circus in Riga? Although Riga already had a temporary wooden circus building as early as 1864, Salamonsky wanted to build a permanent edifice.
