Did you notice………..that the November 10th City Council meeting agenda included the annual audit report by Denman & Company for the year ended 6/30/14? Having an independent entity review our city’s finances and functions helps provide an assurance that proper processes are being followed and fully disclosed. While the statements should be reviewed as a whole and not individual pieces scrutinized, pages 46-48 of the agenda can be viewed as a type of ‘executive summary’. These are the audit findings, and for the most part shows that our government is in compliance. The few items that did pop up have been corrected, and are probably not unusual for a city this size with our limited staff. Where we should be concerned is if these same items show up again in subsequent audits. Overall the audit results were good, and the City Council approved it.
