Disappointed. I was so excited to try melting old crayons into interesting shapes. I separated the crayons into color families, shaved the ugly bits off the naked crayon pieces without wrappers, peeled the wrappers off the rest, cut them into tiny pieces. Id read about melting them in silicone molds, so I tried it with an old Ikea mold. I searched the Interweb to determine that the molds Id had for years are indeed silicone, and my research confirmed it. Apparently its a type of silicone that should be used only in the refrigerator or freezer. Or maybe its really rubber? Im glad I tried only one mold at first and didnt ruin the others. Despite spraying the mold with non-stick spray, it was a huge struggle to get the hardened shapes out of the mold. Ill make one more attempt with a metal mini muffin tin from the thrift store - I dont want to ruin the ones I use for food. Im not sure what I did wrong.
