District Head Arraigned For Killing 8 In Benue The police in Benue State yesterday arraigned a 68-year-old District Head, Daniel Ayada, at a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly abducting and killing eight indigenes of Niger State. Ayada is facing a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, theft and culpable homicide punishable under sections 97 (1), 274, 287 and 221 of the Penal Code. The police prosecutor, Mr Hyacinth Gbakor, told the court that the case was transferred from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Adikpo to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Makurdi through a letter dated April 4. He said the letter stated that a group of eight persons, led by one Solomon John, from Kontagora, Niger state were going for the traditional marriage of one Charity Iortyom at Jato Aka on March 28, when they were abducted. “The letter stated that the visitors got to Ugbema roundabout in Buruku local government area of Benue and missed their way, and asked for direction to Adikpo town from some youths loading vehicles at the roundabout. “The letter further stated that a yet-to-be identified driver volunteered to assist in taking them to Jato Aka where they were going and since then, the whereabouts of the visitors and the Golf car they used had not been known. “During further police investigation, it was discovered that the eight visitors were taken to Sati Ikyo village in Ushongo where one Ahangba, whose surname is yet unknown, mounted a road block with his men,” he narrated
