District Judge, Birbhum District, West Bengal directed to inspect the matter relating to gang rape of a woman on the orders of Village Court: Supreme Court: Taking suo-moto cognizance on the basis of the news item published in the Business & Financial News on January 23, 2014 highlighting the issue of gang rape of a woman on the orders of Village Court, the 3-judge bench of Hon’ble P. Sathasivam, CJ and Hon’ble Ranjan Gogoi and M.Y. Eqbal, JJ directed the District Judge, Birbhum District, West Bengal, to inspect the concerned place and submit a report to this Court within a period of one week from the date of the order.
