Disturbance between people believed to be members of outlaw motorcycle gangs, Gold Coast Police on the Gold Coast responded to disturbances believed to be between members of Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs (OMCG) last night. As a result, a number of people were arrested. The first disturbance occurred at Surf Parade at Broadbeach around 8.30pm. A large group of men, believed to be members of an OMCG became involved in an altercation with a man, also believed to be a member of an OMCG, that allegedly resulted in a fight outside a restaurant. Police attended and initially detained six people from the group. Four men were arrested and taken to the Southport Watchhouse. Two others were released and the group dispersed. A second disturbance occurred around 10pm outside the Southport Police Station in Scarborough Street, with a group of men believed to be members of an OMCG. A further four people were arrested with the remaining people dispersing. During the incidents three men received minor injuries requiring treatment at the Gold Coast Hospital. Four male police officers also sustained injuries but did not require medical treatment. A total of 18 people have been charged with offences including public nuisance, assault, obstruct police, assault police, disorderly on licensed premises and an unrelated stealing matter. The response to this incident included police from Logan and specialist units from Brisbane. Police have today implemented a range of strategies including an increased presence on the Gold Coast.
