Administrative action already taken in Gool incident: DGP Srinagar, July 25: Director General Police (DGP Ashok Prasad Thursday said that probe in Gool killings is already on and administrative action has already been taken. he said, “In such cases after administrative action, the case goes to courts and judicial process takes time. Additional DG BSF will hold the probe at his own level and take actionaccordingly. People fully cooperated with police and didn’t give any heed to separatists.” He claimed that people aren’t ready to support violence and latest incident Gool proved it. “Vested interests tried to spread false rumours. Though rumour was spread that Holy Quran has been desecrated but people knew what was right and what was wrong,” Prasad said. On recent stone pelting incidents afterthe Gool incident he said, “Stone pelting is not a new phenomenon. It is happening in areas where Hurriyat pays money to stone pelters. In these areas stone pelting was on in 2008, 2010 and it is not new this time.” Prasad said that some vested interests tried to flare up situation inGanderbal by desecrating Holy Quran. “A police belt and a shoe was kept in the masjid these vested interests. But people of the area full understood the conspiracy and cooperated with the police,” he added. The DGP claimed that people in downtown Srinagar who are sufferershave started to make contact with police and in case they have any problem they approach thepolice. Prasad said that due to communication gap between media and authorities the death toll figure inGool incident couldn’t be projected rightly. He claimed that police have changedits approach since last few years. “We were able to bring situation to normal in just three days after Gool incident. In 2008 and 2010 police was not fully geared up to meet the challenge of stone pelting. We were busy with counter insurgency operations till a few years back but now we are full geared up tohandle law and order situations also,”he said. Claiming that 95 percent people in Kashmir weren’t with violence, Prasad said, “Police is capable and better equipped to handle the situation which is the reason situation in 2013 remained better.” “We are trying to minimise human rights violations and that is the reason collateral damage is less these days. Our priority is that there should be no collateral damage. Police exercised maximum restraint after Gool incident and that is the reasons that more cops were injuredthan protesters,” he added. The DGP said that all separatists will be released soon. “(Syed Ali) Geelaniand everybody has right to pray and go wherever they want, but nobody will be allowed to take law in his own hands,” he added.
