Do area towns still have corn roasts as a weekend fund-raiser for different groups ? I remember especially the one in Oakfield, WI. The corn was steam-roasted right in the husks. Thered be big salt shakers and bowls of melted butter with brushes. Probably couldnt do all that with the food laws nowadays. Our gang would frequently have an end of summer corn roast and brat cookout. Of course with prodigious quantities of beer--often in the form of a keg; a pony (eighth barrel) or a quarter barrel.
