Do you ever wonder how the activities at the museum relate to what your children are learning in school? All of our programs for guests and field trips align with one or more Common Core Standard! :) Here is how our February programs fit into school lessons. ~1 Heart, 2 Heart, Red Heart, Blue Heart Kindergarten math: Count to 100 by ones and by tens. Classify objects into given categories; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count. ~Geometrical Heart Art Kindergarten math: Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size. Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. 1st grade math: Distinguish between defining attributes versus non-defining attributes; build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes. ~Measure Up to the Presidents Kindergarten math: Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute, and describe the difference. ~Presidential Money Memory 2nd grade math: Solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately.
