Doctor Who: The Romans: Included in The Romans DVD Special Features is the Blue Peter segment of the Blue Peter team having a Roman banquet. This Blue Peter segment isn’t directly related to the aforementioned Doctor Who story. It is obviously included here as it shared the subject with the Doctor Who story that of Ancient Rome society. What makes this Blue Peter segment such a curio here is that a member of the Blue Peter team is that of First Doctor companion actor Peter Purves (Steven) who had joined Blue Peter some years after leaving Doctor Who. The Doctor Who story had featured the First Doctor, Ian, Barbara and Vicki. Peter Purves first played Steven much later on in The Chase which had featured the same TARDIS team from The Romans although it was also the swansong for Ian and Barbara. So while Steven only had a brief encounter with Ian and Barbara he would have a substantial amount of time with the First Doctor and Vicki. So in a way seeing Purves in the aforementioned Blue Peter segment kind of feels like him making up the fact that he was not in Doctor Who: The Romans featuring the same principal cast members that he had worked on in Doctor Who.
